I have recently been introduced to Dexter Britain, a soundtrack composer from the UK by one of my friends. I was surprised to learn that Dexter is only 26 years old after hearing some of his compositions. Dexter has composed a song called Having Run which I have shared in this post.  

According to Dexter this track is all about what happens when you have succeeded in the goal of starting a new life. The excitement, relief, and thrill. All entwined in the ongoing hard work and forever changing ideas but never faltering determination for a great life. :)

Anyway, the friend who introduced me to Dexter is the writer (and blogger) Pertus Kruger. Check out his blog if you enjoy reading short stories!

I have recently discovered an artist on YouTube who calls herself Veela. Aside from her great voice and purple hair, I like that she mostly features in gloomy, somewhat sad songs. Her songs usually contain an aspect of storytelling from what I can tell.

Her music is not really mainstream, but if you are like me and enjoy chillstep/dubstep/electronic, you will most definitely enjoy her music. She has a great vocal range and her voice really cuts through on high notes.

Many of her songs contains aspects of video games, sci-fi characters and the likes. This probably makes her name suit her music style well, as Veela are mythical supernatural beings from Slavic folklore (you should know this if you've watched Harry Potter). /hmm 

I did a little bit of digging and have discovered that her real name is Victoria Burnett and that she is from Canada. She seems like a really nice person and does the occasional vlog on YouTube to interact with people who listen to her music. It also turns out that she is an avid cosplayer! :) 

Lastly, what I find really cool about her is that a lot of her music is released as free downloads! No reason not to check it out! Below is one of her free songs that should remind you of Bioshock:

I have recently discovered Laura Brehm on YouTube. Actually, I've heard her a number of times before in dubstep mixes, but only quite recently got to put a name to the female vocalist. I was really excited when I saw that she had an LP album from 2010 and a new album "Future Holds".

The song below (Fall in Love) is one of my favourites that is on Laura's LP from 2010. It has a very chilled vibe and is totally in the range of music that I enjoy. Her incredible voice is absolutely beautiful in this track (you know it is good when I use incredible, absolutely and beautiful in the same sentence ;) ).

Laura is an american songwriter/vocalist from Denver, Colorado. She was born on 19 August, 1990 ( for the sake of completeness :) ). She started singing from a young age and must have experimented a lot with electronic music from what I'm guessing. She features in quite a range of different music genres, but mostly electronic (folk, acoustic and orchestral).
